Workshops, Classes, and Individual Sessions For the Actor, Performer and Public Speaker
Welcome to Reiki for the Actor. Here you will find workshops, classes, and individual sessions for performers in the system of reiki, an energetic healing technique of restorative self-care that, when practiced, ensures you continually perform your art with a renewed sense of vitality.
One of the many beauties of reiki is that it is simple to learn, easy to practice, and can quickly restore you to a place of balance and renewal that invigorates your artistic life. It is ideally suited to any performer: not only actors, but also singers, dancers, musicians, spoken word artists, and, in fact, anyone who is ever in front of an audience, including teachers and those in which public speaking is part of their work.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energetic holistic technique used to assist in psychological, spiritual, and physical healing. More formally called Reiki Ryôhô, it was developed in Japan more than a century ago by Mikao Usui (1865-1926), a lay Buddhist practitioner and healer. At its core, reiki is a self-care meditative healing modality that can be facilitated by light, non-manipulative touch on the body. Although reiki is founded in Buddhist principles, it serves as a complement to all spiritual and non-spiritual practices of wellness and healing. Reiki is currently being used and taught in many hospitals, including Stanford Health Care, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Yale New Haven Health, and the Mayo Clinic, among others, as a complementary therapy to alleviate stress, reduce anxiety, and relieve pain. Mikao Usui’s intent was for reiki healing to be available to all, easy to learn, simple and safe to practice.
